The most enjoyable thing about this game is trying to survive against the SCPs with their wide variety of powers and abilities. If you’ve played other horror games before, you’ve likely seen all of the tricks it has up its sleeve including jump scares, scary static, confusing hallways, and more. Within the survival horror genre, SCP: Containment Breach doesn’t really offer anything special. The crazy, labyrinthine hallways of the SCP Foundation are still present in the Unity remake, but they are far more numerous and confusing than before. The scope of the game is also much larger than the original game. Most of the SCPs in the will one-hit-kill you, but the new SCPs and locations have more gradual effects on the character. In terms of gameplay, there is really only one new mechanic and that’s the addition of a health bar. There are also brand new SCPs included in the Unity remake, making it much more dangerous and difficult than before. Not long after receiving your first assignment, the facility undergoes a massive containment breach, leaving you alone in the darkness. While the original still featured uncanny blocky 3D graphics, the Unity remake has much more realistic designs and proportions. You play as D-9341, one of many Class-D test subjects used by the SCP Foundation, an organization dedicated to containing and safe-guarding anomalous creatures and artifacts from the rest of the world.
